When I met Susan Mcgaughy for the first time it was quick and no big deal, I told her I loved her dogs and she said thanks. God wanted us together because I ran into her a few times outside of the clinic and my over bounding personality couldn’t resist walking up to her and striking up a conversation!!
Side Note: When I was young I was constantly embarrassed by my mothers crazy overwhelming personality! She would dance in the grocery store isles when music was playing over the speaker and if she saw someone she knew she would wave her hands high in the air and yell out to them! She always has a smile on her face and when she talks it has a singing note to it! It’s very enlightening and pro founding when the things about your loved ones that once were embarrassing are now so endearing! Basically I find that I have more of my mother’s outgoing personality than I thought I ever would and I love it! And her!!!!!
When seeing Susan outside the clinic and knowing she had the only gorgeous red Dobermans in Pismo Beach I couldn’t resist waving my hands in the air and Yelling out to her!! Low and behold within months I was her personal pet sitter!! And within 9 months I was chili and peppers new 2nd mother!!! Susan was a traveler so I watched the kids a lot! Getting to be friends with Susan I discovered she owned her own business and is an expert seamstress! I thought about asking her for her advice on my bra idea for over a month. One day we went for a smoothie and I asked her what she thought and showed her the only prototype I had! She liked the idea and thought it was worth me striving for. I still awkwardly asked if she would like to collaborate and partner up!
Side Note: I asked Susan to partner up with Mindy and I in ~March 2015 I’ve had this idea since ~ 2004! Which means my sister and I could not get any progress simply on an idea!
The next day after talking with Susan for about 2 hours we made a game plan to get a business license and produce a prototype so we can contact connections she had across seas.
Well God has a plan for everything and everyone! Our plan for Vai Athletica was Clothier Design located in Minnesota! Susan discovered them of course!! There motto is: “You think it! We make it”! It was a good fit. After sending them our rough prototype ( our previous blog pic) that Susan made and our thoughts to what we wanted to create “Vai Athletica U-line” was born!
