Welcome back, everyone! It’s been a while since I blogged about my diet and I can not tell a lie! I fell off the wagon, well half way off. I was doing good with healthy weight loss recipes and implementing my stomach crunches then boom stomach flu hit the household! I was so sick 🤢for two days, then 3 days later got sick again and actually lost 4 pounds. I went from 130 to 126. Well, that weight loss was water loss so of course when I got better I went back to 129. With being sick I fell behind in a lot of work so prepping meals and stomach crunches fell a little by the waist side. It is 5-15-19 today and I am turning a new leaf tomorrow!

When you have gastroenteritis (more often called the stomach flu), the most common symptoms are vomiting and diarrhea. You may also experience nausea, fever, stomach cramps and exhaustion. These symptoms can be caused by several different types of viruses, bacteria or even a parasite. If you have diarrhea and vomiting multiple times, you lose a lot of body fluid in a short amount of time. It’s also unlikely that you are able to keep any food or liquids down, so you can’t replace what you have lost very easily. This drastic change in fluid volume in your body can show up on the scale. If your symptoms last for several days, the weight change can be pretty drastic. Since most of the weight that comes off when you are sick is “water weight,” it will likely come back when you are feeling better and eating and drinking again. If you are actually trying to lose weight, this is not the way to do it. Bulimia is a serious eating disorder – and one that is generally not very effective. Even if you aren’t technically bulimic but you think you’ll knock a few pounds off if you get a stomach virus, you will likely be disappointed to find that the weight will return shortly after you recover.
I appreciate the fact that I’m losing my weight slowly and gradually. I plan to stick with this plan and reach my goal weight of 120 pounds. I do occasionally enjoy a slice of pizza BUT now I literally have 1 slice verses 3 like I use to! l also have a little something sweet about once a week versus dessert 4 nights week! My biggest achievement on this diet has been portion control! For the first couple of weeks, I felt like I was starving!! Now I get full quickly and I’m not overstuffed feeling.
