June Fitness

June – the middle of the year in the Gregorian calendar. It signifies the end of a calendar school year and the beginning of summer break. What comes to mind are warm summer days and beautiful times  spent with family and friends. But with all the new and rapid changes this summer we are not doing the activities that we look forward to doing. To accept a new challenge this summer this can also be a time to try new activities.

For me, I accepted the challenge of cooking at home more and eating out less. I cooked more healthy meals and had my children look up recipes they would like to make with me. My teenage son learned how to chop vegetables. My daughter enjoyed baking and again using healthy ingredients. What a way to bond and have fun learning. Haha – of course I did all the clean up.

The second challenge was and is finding ways to get outside and exercise. Not always easy but hopefully a few good and simple ways to do something is good for the body and soul. For us walking our dogs is a must. Even around the house, chasing and playing with my 4 dogs is essential. Life has opportunities in places we take for granted but once we recognise those moments it helps to remind our bodies to keep moving. Healthy food and exercise can male is feel better in many ways.
