Eating and Portion Control

I love to eat, who doesn’t! And some of us have stronger wills than others. For me, my will gains strength when I start to see actual results!

Quick Tip: The time it takes for you to see (and others to notice) weight loss results can vary from person to person. Many factors, including your starting size and your eating plan, can make a big difference. In general, however, many people can see results in one to two weeks if they stick to their plan. March 22 & 23, 2019  Vai Athletica attended our first event as a vendor at the Health and Fitness Expo, held at the LA Convention Center. A good three weeks before the event I tried to lose weight!  My goal was 10 to 15lbs. My method was extremely unorganized ( just like my life😉). I exercised when I could and ate decent most of the time. The one good thing I became consistent on was my portion size. I actually stumbled into it! For a few weeks I covered the late night shifts for a coworker. Not eating my normal size portions and consuming less food I was feeling better and slimmer. I wanted to keep the ball rolling and managed to lose 5lbs for the event.

Quick Tip: Smaller portions are the easiest way to lose weight. Here’s how to get used to eating tinier meals . Susie Burrell, nutritionist and founder of ShapeMe.com.au, says getting portion sizes right is crucial for weight loss – or even just not putting on weight to begin with. “A slightly larger slice of bread, an extra teaspoon or two of oil on the salad or simply eating from a larger plate are just a few of the ways our portions tend to gradually increase over time, as does our weight.” Portion control 101 Burrell works with her clients to simplify portion sizes and know straight away, when cooking at home or eating out, how much of the food in front of them they should eat. “Aim to fit each meal into one to two fist sizes, and keep protein such as meat the size of your palm,” Burrell says. If looking down at your plate and seeing two fists of food makes you wonder “Where’s the rest?!”, the key is to fill up your plate with vegetables, which are low calorie. After not eating as much for 8 or 9 days I could truly tell when I was getting full off of less food. A couple weeks prior I could have eaten double and felt the need to stop but I would just clear my plate.  There were a couple of meals that were so tasty I kept eating past the point of knowing I was full and I TOTALLY REGRETTED IT! 🤢
I’m going on a diet challenge and taking ya’ll with me! I’m going to research a couple of diets and exercise plans and then share them with you next week, and possibly drag my friend Amber along for the ride and results!!  I know what your all thinking Will there be pictures!? Yes there will be before/during/after pics!
